at St Mary's Church, Layer Breton Heath

Proper coffee, tea and delicious cakes. Pop in and enjoy this informal social get-together which is held on the first Wednesday of each month. This time we are taking part in the World's Biggest Coffee Morning with donations going to Macmillan Cancer Support. For more information telephone 331898.

12 Noon Men's Monthly Pub Lunch at the Donkey & Buskins, Layer de la Haye

The Men's Monthly Lunch Club meets at 12 noon on the 1st Wednesday of each month. We're a friendly lot and welcome newcomers from Layer de la Haye and nearby villages. So why not get in touch and come along to try us out? Over an hour or so around 15 to 20 of us enjoy a pub lunch, a drink and each other's company. It's simple, totally informal, no strings and we each pay for our own orders.

Our venue varies between the Donkey & Buskins and the Layer Fox at Layer de la Haye and the Hare & Hounds at Layer Breton. By the Sunday before, please let Jon Smith know (E-mail: jonsmith@supanet.com; Mob: 07814-116590) if you are coming so he can confirm numbers to the pub. For meetings at the Layer Fox and the Hare & Hounds he also needs your pre-orders for lunch.

Sunday, 15th September 2019 THIRTEENTH SUNDAY AFTER TRINITY

Services in the Layer parishes will be at the normal times and places,
as published on the Services page except for the following change:

4:00pm Pets' Service at St John the Baptist, Layer de la Haye
This will be in place of the usual 6:00pm service at Layer de la Haye.

You are invited to bring your pet(s). The service will be followed by a barbecue at about 4:30pm.

10:30am Harvest Festival at St John the Baptist, Layer de la Haye
followed by lunch in the church.

Donated foodstuffs will be sent to the Food Bank. Those staying for the simple lunch after the service will be invited to make a donation, with the monies collected going to charity.

7:30pm Layer de la Haye Annual Parish and Annual Parochial Church Meetings
at St John the Baptist, Layer de la Haye.

At the Annual Parish Meeting, which is open to all parishioners, there will be the election of the churchwarden for the forthcoming year. This is followed by the Annual Parochial Church Meeting at which elections are held to fill vacancies on the Parochial Church Council (PCC); those on the church's electoral roll are entitled to vote. Finally, there is a closed meeting of the newly-constituted PCC to transact other essential business.
